Job Overview

Trajector is seeking an experienced SDET to help drive quality engineering practices for the next generation of our products and services. We are looking for a technical quality professional with 2-5 years of experience who can implement automated testing strategies, work autonomously within Agile teams, mentor junior team members, and collaborate effectively with development teams to ensure quality is built into our software from the ground up.

As an SDET, you will be responsible for designing and executing tests, working with test automation frameworks, conducting complex test scenarios with meticulous attention to detail, and providing technical leadership in quality practices throughout the SDLC—from requirements definition through release

Responsibilities

  • Support Agile development teams through active participation in ceremonies and quality focused contributions
  • Apply various testing methodologies (manual, automated, exploratory, blackbox) based on context and requirements
  • Design and implement automated test frameworks and scripts for web applications and APIs
  • Conduct thorough API testing using appropriate tools and techniques to validate data integrity and system integration
  • Work autonomously to analyze complex system requirements and define comprehensive test strategies
  • Lead test planning activities within
  • Agile ceremonies and provide technical guidance to junior team members
  • Execute advanced test scenarios with meticulous attention to detail, debug complex issues, and drive resolution
  • Generate detailed test metrics and quality reports to inform sprint and release decisions
  • Identify opportunities for test coverage optimization and process improvements within Agile workflows
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure quality is embedded in the development process
  • Implement performance, security, and scalability testing as needed
  • Advocate for quality engineering best practices across the development organization
  • Communicate technical issues with appropriate context and solutions-oriented recommendations

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software testing experience with conversance in test automation
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of web application testing, including manual, blackbox, and exploratory testing techniques
  • Demonstrated proficiency in API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar technologies
  • Ability to select and apply appropriate testing methodologies based on project requirements and context
  • Thorough understanding of Agile methodologies, including experience working in Scrum/Kanban teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and deliver meticulously executed test plans
  • Experience with test case management software and defect tracking systems like Jira and aha!
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with complex software systems
  • Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing test automation solutions
  • Strong programming skills with the ability to write maintainable test code
  • Experience with multiple automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.)
  • Advanced API testing experience including contract testing and service virtualization
  • Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6)
  • CI/CD experience with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
  • Experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks and CI/CD integration
  • Experience facilitating quality-focused discussions in Agile ceremonies
  • Experience with test data management and mock service implementation
  • Experience mentoring junior team members on testing practices
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and testing cloud-based applications
  • Experience with mobile application testing framework
