Job Overview

Trajector is seeking an experienced and strategic Lobbyist to oversee and coordinate all aspects of our lobbying efforts. The Lobbyist will be responsible for developing and executing effective advocacy strategies to influence public policy and legislative decisions in alignment with the organization's objectives. This role requires exceptional communication skills, political acumen, and the ability to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, with a specific emphasis on supporting the underserved population. This person will travel occasionally and work flexible hours to accommodate legislative schedules and advocacy events. This position will be a manager-level position, with the person reporting to the Chief Legal Officer and ideally based out of Gainesville, Florida or American Fork, Utah.

 

Must be able to report to the Gainesville, FL office once a month. 

About Our Perks, Compensation, & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation of $145,000 - $170,00 per year with total compensation ranging from $185,000 - $225,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Develop comprehensive lobbying strategies and implementation plans to advance the organization's mission, interests and objectives, with a focus on addressing the needs of underserved communities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with legislators, government officials, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders to advocate for policies that promote equity and access for underserved populations.
  • Policy Analysis: Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the organization's priorities, particularly those impacting marginalized communities, and provide analysis of their potential impact.
  • Coalition Building: Collaborate with other organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders to build coalitions and amplify advocacy efforts on behalf of the company’s initiatives and underserved populations.
  • Legislative Advocacy: Advocate for the company’s policies and initiatives that address systemic barriers and promote social and economic justice for underserved communities, through direct lobbying, testimony at hearings, and participation in legislative meetings.
  • Resource Management: Manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and oversee the work of external lobbyists or lobbying firms, ensuring that resources are directed towards initiatives that benefit the company’s efforts to serve underserved communities.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant lobbying regulations, disclosure requirements, and ethical standards, while advocating for policies that promote equity and inclusion.
  • Communication: Develop and disseminate persuasive communication materials, including position papers, talking points, and briefing documents, highlighting the importance of addressing the company’s initiatives to serve underserved communities.
  • Crisis Management: Respond to legislative or regulatory challenges impacting the company’s initiatives to serve underserved communities by developing proactive strategies and mobilizing support to mitigate adverse impacts.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate legislative initiatives and the effectiveness of lobbying activities related to supporting the company’s initiatives to serve underserved communities, track key performance indicators, and provide regular reports and updates to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, law, or a related field; J.D. or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 15 -20 years’ proven experience in government relations, lobbying, or advocacy, preferably in a corporate, nonprofit, or government setting with a focus on medical and disability areas.
  • Strong understanding of the legislative process, regulatory environment, and political landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, industry peers, and community leaders.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective advocacy campaigns.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ethical and compliant behavior, with a commitment to transparency and integrity in lobbying activities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and navigate complex political dynamics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with lobbying software and databases.
