Job Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and highly skilled Senior Technical Writer to join our Product and Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for their craft, experience with software development teams, excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality documentation to both internal and external stakeholders. As a Technical Writer at Trajector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our products and teams are effectively supported through comprehensive documentation.

About Our Perks, Compensation, & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation range of $80,000 - $90,000 per year plus quarterly bonuses based on performance with total compensation at a range of approximately $100,000 - $112,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Write internal and external release notes to communicate product updates and enhancements.
  • Help us continually improve our authoring and production tools and processes.
  • Gather information from subject matter experts and translate complex concepts into simple, polished, engaging content.
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners to evaluate current content and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles to support customer and team self-service and internal knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and update documentation including user guides, API documentation, process documentation, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate across the organization and teams to provide visibility into releases and articulate the value delivered to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with go-to-market teams to ensure high-value documentation is delivered.
  • Translate complex technical implementations into clear and concise content for non-technical audiences.
  • Embrace a lean approach to documentation, focusing on delivering valuable content efficiently.
  • Work independently to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong bias toward process automation to streamline documentation workflows.
  • Continuously improve documentation processes to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years proven success working with Product, Engineering, and go-to-market teams as a technical writer in a software development environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with change management, version control systems and concepts (e.g., Git) and documentation tools (e.g., Markdown, DITA)
  • Familiarity with web applications.
  • Experience with version control systems, knowledge bases, project management tools.
  • Ability to understand complex technical implementations and effectively communicate about them to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, within deadlines and taking ownership of projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Experience with process automation tools and a strong bias toward automating repetitive tasks.
  • A focus on continuous improvement and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency across all documentation.
  • A collaborative mindset, drive to create and improve processes, and willingness to support team members on their projects as needed.
  • Experience and proven ability in self-managing a high volume of tasks, priorities, and set yourself high standards of accuracy, proficiency and precision.
